(For users connecting to your server, not for forwarding via your ISP)<\/p>\n<p>First of all generate an Exim SSL certificate:<\/p>\n<p># \/usr\/share\/doc\/exim4-base\/examples\/exim-gencert<\/p>\n<p>Now edit \/etc\/exim4\/exim4.conf.template using your favourite text editor.<\/p>\n<p>Uncomment (don&#8217;t copy and paste from here because my copy from file cut out end of lines) the following lines:<\/p>\n<p># plain_server:<br \/>\n#   driver = plaintext<br \/>\n#   public_name = PLAIN<br \/>\n#   server_condition = &#8220;${if crypteq{$3}{${extract{1{:}{${lookup{$2}lsearch{CON$<br \/>\n#   server_set_id = $2<br \/>\n#   server_prompts = :<br \/>\n#   .ifndef AUTH_SERVER_ALLOW_NOTLS_PASSWORDS<br \/>\n#   server_advertise_condition = ${if eq{$tls_cipher}{}{}{*}}<br \/>\n#   .endif<\/p>\n<p>Once that has been done create (or edit if it exists) \/etc\/exim4\/exim4.conf.localmacros<\/p>\n<p>Add the line:<\/p>\n<p>MAIN_TLS_ENABLE = true<\/p>\n<p>You need to add users with:<br \/>\n# adduser username<\/p>\n<p>In order to create file \/var\/mail\/username you need to send email to new user<\/p>\n<p># mail username@yourdomain.com[enter]<br \/>\nsome text[enter]<br \/>\n.[enter]<\/p>\n<p>To actually setup the users and passwords for outgoing SMTP create \/etc\/exim4\/passwd<\/p>\n<p>Copy output from:<\/p>\n<p>htpasswd -nd usernameforsmtp<\/p>\n<p>And paste it in \/etc\/exim4\/passwd<\/p>\n<p>Repeat for any other logins you&#8217;d like to add.<\/p>\n<p>Now you&#8217;re done.
